That just about sums it up. We have had to upgrade our Office software at work, and as usual (ie, for some frakked up reason) we have to do it ourselves. Naturally the night shift got the job. And as expected it fails to install on the PC I'm using, after I uninstall the current version. This means no email at work. No software to do the paperwork we need to do at work. As much as I'd like to not see the likes of Outlook and MS Excel, this is unacceptable. And this is just one of the many stupidities I've had to deal with at the office.
I open the CD, double-click on "Setup.exe". I get the "Please wait" while the files are loading crap, and then...nothing. I do it again. Still nothing. I try to shut down some processes, hoping to nail any dead process. Nothing. Reboots and more tweaks. Frakking nothing.
How a company like Microsoft can make their own software unable to install on their own operating system is astounding. No, this isn't the first time I've had trouble with Office on Windows. They should just stick to making frakking mice and keyboards. Those are the only goddamn things that just work. Really, how difficult can this frakking be? And people complain that Linux is hard to use? What're they on?
This Wednesday's team meeting is gonna be interesting. The gloves are coming off. I've had it.
